    • 7:45 AM - 1:00 PM
    • MSA Rifle & Pistol Range

3 Gun is an action sport involving rifle, pistol and shotgun, shooting a variety of different types of targets in tactical scenario-based event. We generally shoot four scenarios in a match, which takes about 4 hours. We break up into four squads each under the direction of a range safety officer or squad leader. The squad rotates through the scenarios until all four are completed by each shooter. Scoring is based on time and how well you hit the targets.

This is a great place to improve your shooting skill and improve safety and handling as well. It’s great fun with good folks to shoot with. It is our policy that a person who has never competed in these type events come and be a part as a scorer for one match to get the rules understood before actual shooting. This seems to work better than coming in cold turkey and being overwhelmed with rules and dealing with three different guns.

Matches are 3rd Saturday each month. Walk-through and safety meeting at 8:30, with the match starting at 9:00 (be sure to arrive early enough to sign in before the safety meeting).

“NRL is a Nationally sanctioned precision style match with .22 Long Rifle. Magazine fed semi-auto and bolt action rifles with ranging optics are highly encouraged. Four family friendly classes to shoot in; Open, base, ladies, youth. New courses of fire every month, positional & barricade stages, reactive steel and challenging paper targets against a par timer. Known distance from 25 out to 100 yards.”

Third Sunday of every month @ 1400. Sighting period prior to the match to confirm dope.

New shooters are always welcome! Bring whatever you have (or email me at bullseye@midlandshooters.com and I'll bring what you need).

Click here for more info about MSA's Bullseye program.

Our "Just for Fun" match runs alongside the regular NRA match, following the same course of fire but you are welcome to use two hands (or even use the bench as a rest). It's a great way to get started and see what Bullseye is all about.

NOT SURE YOU HAVE THE SKILL TO SHOOT BULLSEYE?

Then you'll fit right in. "Bullseye" refers more to what we are aiming at than what we are hitting...but it's sure fun to try.

IDPA as a sport is simply the use of practical equipment including full charge service ammunition to solve simulated “real world” self-defense scenarios. Shooters competing in IDPA events are required to use practical handguns and holsters that are truly suitable for self-defense use.

Matches are usually the 2nd Saturday of each month. Setup starts at 7:30 and we can always use more volunteers! Sign-in no later 8:20 for a 9:00 start.

    • MSA Rifle & Pistol Range (ranges D & E closed during match, range C may experience delays)

F Class Rifle is a great event for those desiring to learn how to shoot longer distances. We shoot 530 yards here at MSA. This is for any rifle under .36 caliber . Shooting from a prone position, with separated front and rear rests allowed.

Competitors will shoot five, 5 shot groups, and add up all groups for a total score. The best possible score will be 250 plus X count. Target dimensions are; outer ring at 17.5 inches; with a 4 inch 10 ring and a 2 inch x ring.

We hold regular matches the 2nd Sunday of each month, and practice sessions on the 4th Thursday of each month from the months of April- August - see the MSA event calendar for exact dates and times. For more information contact Jeremy Jackson at (432) 889-8721 or jeremy_jackson10@yahoo.com.

Click here for more details.
